Obsessed With Her Novel by Master Momo (Chapters 121, 122, 123, 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130)

Chapter 121

“Exactly. It would be embarrassing for the Larson family and Ms. Jessica if the people of high status went over to the Harwood family’s banquet instead.”

“The Harwood family were determined to challenge the Chairman and Ms. Jessica.”

“We can only hope for more guests to arrive. Otherwise, the Larson family and Ms. Jessica would end up being a laughingstock.”

“It appears that the banquet held by the Harwood family will be around the area too. Right at Mansion 108, not far from here.”

Even when Jessica overheard the soft gossip exchanged, she remained calm and undisturbed.

The hairstylist and assistants could not help but be concerned and empathize with Jessica. However, Jessica remained quiet and carefree, as she let out a slight smirk.

The guests made their way to the banquet venue as time approached

Most of the guests who showed up were business partners and individuals who were greatly dependent on the Larson family.

James was not a tad bit surprised by their presence.

Instead, he only had his eyes on the prize. Victory would be secured only if the four prestigious families showed up at the Larson residence.

The Larson family would not only be seen as a

laughingstock in Horington, but they would also be deemed to be miserably defeated if the four prestigious families were absent from their event.

It would be humiliating if the four prestigious families. showed up to Jake Harwood’s goddaughter’s party than to be present at the Larson family’s biological daughter’s.

After greeting the guests, James asked the butler, “Where are they?”

As soon as he finished, Wallace rushed his way over and said, “Mr. Larson, the Lynch family have arrived.”

James smiled and said, “Let’s head over to greet our distinguished guests.”

Wallace stood in the way and interrupted, “Mr. Larson, they left after dropping us the gift. It seems the car was heading towards the hill above.”

The hill above? That is where the Harwood family held their banquet.

The smile on James Larson’s face disappeared instantly.

Shortly after, another staff rushed his way over and reported, “Mr. Larson, the Zahn family came by, but they left after they handed us the gift.”

Mr. Larson’s face took on a ghastly expression when he heard the news.

This won’t do. The Larson family would end up as Horington’s laughingstock if I stayed put.

James decided to greet them in person by the entrance, in hopes of preventing them from leaving the venue.

The thought of not having any one of the four prestigious families at the venue would be of great shame as compared to him looking like he was about to bootlick them in front of the public, which he could not have cared less about.

The Long family dropped their gifts off and headed to the hill above before James could reach the entrance.

The Long’s departure infuriated James, and a look of great bitterness swept across his face.

Even so, James knew he had to be calm and put a smile on.

The Lewis family was the last to arrive among the four prestigious families.

Logan noticed James stood before the entrance upon his arrival, Logan could not help but twitch and sigh.

Should have come sooner if I only knew he would wait here.

“Mr. Lewis, what a pleasure to have you here with us. The Larson residence is greatly honored by your gracious presence,” James warmly greeted.

&lt This sly fox must be dying to drag me into the Larson residence. But we were told to be present at the Harwood residence at all costs, I would not dare to go against the orders.&gt

“Happy Birthday to Ms. Jessica! We hope that she will like the gift we prepared,” Logan said boldly.

“I’m sure she will. Mr. Lewis, please, make yourself at home,” James invited enthusiastically.

“Apologies, but I can’t stay. It appears that there is an emergency back in the office that demands my immediate attention. I’m really sorry that I could not stay for the night. Let me make it up to Ms. Jessica next time,” Logan rejected.

It would be forceful if James continued his persistence.

The guests had witnessed the entire affair. James’ expression turned gloomy, filled with hopelessness, as he watched the Lewis family depart.

Now, it would be inevitable for the Larson family and Ms. Jessica to be seen as the true laughingstock of Horington.

Chapter 122

“None of the four prestigious families are staying because everyone is heading for the Harwood residence.”

“The Larson family is truly a laughingstock of Horington this time.”

“Ms. Jessica is no better than a goddaughter. Who knows what will happen when the news spreads?”

Everyone was busy discussing the situation. Although they had kept their voices down, it was still impossible to ignore. James’ face fell. Yet, he still tried his best to show a smile in front of his guests.

However, everyone knew he was just faking it.

When he was around, all the guests had smiles on their faces and pleased him as if nothing had ever happened. However, they started to gossip about him secretly once he left.

Humans are realistic beings after all.

Standing on the balcony of the second floor, Whitney paid close attention to the banquet downstairs. Upon noticing the scene, she could not contain her smile anymore.

This was the happiest moment she had had for so long.

On the other hand, Julianna was sick of listening to the rich ladies’ gossip. She found a slot to slip away and looked for James.

“Harmony is of top priority when we do business. Why were you so rash just now to have disregarded the big picture? Look at what you’ve done. You’ve embarrassed the Larson family.”

James was already feeling annoyed and was even more upset when he heard what she said. “You don’t understand!” “You are right, I do not understand. However, I know that this time, thanks to Jessica, you’ve suffered a great loss, dragged the Larson family down, and made everyone a laughingstock in the end,” Julianna snapped as anger replaced her gentle self.

Deep down, James couldn’t help blaming Jessica. However, he gave up the thought soon because he knew that everyone would be impressed by his foresight after the news was out.

“That’s enough! Go and entertain the guests!” James said with a cold face.

A Porsche sports car stopped at the entrance. In her seat, Samantha tugged at the corner of her dress uneasily. The chauffeur could see her from the rearview mirror, but he did not dare to hurry her.

He did not know what was wrong with Samantha for having changed out of her studded clothes and removed her smoky makeup today. He was not used to her new, refreshing look.

Samantha took a deep breath and opened the door of the car. She walked toward the entrance and was invited in by the staff after showing her an invitation letter.

Upon entering the banquet hall, her unease was quickly replaced with traces of anger when she heard the gossip.

The Harwood family is too much! Now I’m pissed!

Feeling hard to swallow her anger, Samantha phoned Charles, but he did not answer her calls. She lost her temper and nearly threw her phone away.

I knew he would be unreliable after meeting other women!

She then bumped into Whitney when she was heading upstairs.

Whitney remembered seeing Samantha somewhere, but she could not recognize her at once.

“Who are you?” Whitney blocked Samantha’s path and scrutinized her from head to toe curiously. The girl standing in front of her was wearing a limited-edition designer yellow dress. She had a casual ponytail, an oval face, fair skin, and delicate facial figures. Her baby fat made her look cute in a unique way.

Samantha was worried about Jessica, so she didn’t want to waste time on Whitney. “Whitney, I think you need to fix your eyesight,” she hissed.

Upon hearing that familiar voice, Whitney stared at Samantha unbelievably with her eyes wide open, as if she was staring at a rare creature.

Whitney’s gaze and expression made Samantha very uncomfortable. “What are you looking at? I know I look good.” Samantha bellowed angrily with her cheeks puffed.

Chapter 123

Samantha pushed Whitney aside and walked away with her chin high up.

After opening the door, Samantha was instantly attracted to the beautiful figure by the window.

Meanwhile, Jessica felt a gaze from behind and turned around. She was stunned for a moment when she noticed who it was.

“Sam?” Jessica sounded firm even though she was asking. Jessica’s gaze wandered over the girl in front of her in detail. Without any peculiar accessories and thick makeup, the young girl had an unexpectedly cute face.

No longer the punk girl she used to be, she now looked more adorable than any other girl. Her transformation was as stark as day and night.

“Do I look ugly?” Samantha lowered her head shyly as she felt embarrassed to face Jessica’s beaming gaze.

Jessica stepped forward and brushed her fingers lightly across Samantha’s face. “You look really pretty like this.” Jessica did not expect that Samantha would change so much just because of what she said.

Cracks began to appear on the thick walls surrounding Jessica’s frozen heart.

All of a sudden, Samantha remembered why she was there and declared, “Just ignore what you hear when you go downstairs later.”

“All right.”

Actually, Jessica was clear about what happened downstairs earlier.

This birthday banquet was more like a duel between the Larsons and the Harwoods.

On the other hand, it was also a game for her.

For her, the number of attendees did not matter. What mattered the most was the results she wanted.

Meanwhile, at the Young Corporation’s branch office in Horington, a man in the center of the conference room stared attentively at the presentation in front of him.

“Take it back and redo it at once.”

Although his deep voice carried no emotion, the conference room still fell into dead silence.

Charles took a glimpse of his phone, which wouldn’t stop vibrating. He picked up his phone with his slender fingers and browsed through the messages quickly. All of them came from the same person.

Samantha texted: Your wife is being bullied. If you don’t come now, you don’t have to come ever again.

I don’t care; you have to come and stand up for Jess.

I’m begging you. Can you come ASAP?

If you don’t reply to me now, I will not talk to you ever again.

& Are you there?

Charles put down his phone and let his gaze wander

across the room. “Today’s meeting ends here. Redo all the reports and give them to me by tomorrow.”

Then, he stood up from his seat and left the room.

After he was gone, the senior executives in the conference room let out a long sigh of relief.

Using his personal elevator, Charles headed for the underground car park directly. When he opened his car door, an exquisite gift box could be seen sitting on the back seat.

He started the engine and drove out of the underground car park.

At the Harwood residence, Jake was busy entertaining the guests with a smiling face.

He was as proud as a peacock with all four prestigious families attending his banquet.

He finally found a chance to speak to Andy Ziegler, his secretary. “Spread the news,” he demanded.

Andy stood at the corner of the room and sent a message to the reporters who were ready for his order.

Without any hesitation, the reporters posted the draft they had prepared earlier as soon as they received his order.

Soon enough, a post describing how no one showed up to Jessica’s birthday banquet because of her low family status and bad behavior appeared on the internet.

Meanwhile, in Marsingfill, Jack was busy browsing through his messages when his assistant exclaimed. “Mr. Ferguson, I think Ms. Jessica is in trouble.”

Chapter 124

Jack took the phone from his assistant and frowned as he browsed through the post.

He took out his own phone and called the company director of his Horington branch office, Richard Salvatore.

“Mr. Ferguson, I didn’t expect you to have the free time to call me,” Richard said in surprise.

“Mr. Salvatore, help me send a birthday gift to my friend in the name of the Ferguson family,” Jack said in a deep voice. Richard was astonished and curious at the same time. ” Where should I send the gift to?”

“To the Larsons. It’s a gift for Ms. Jessica. It will be sent to you in a while. The banquet is about to start, so you’d better be quick.”

“Rest assured.” Richard was shocked.

He didn’t know that Jessica and Jack knew each other so well. It seemed like their relationship was more than just casual.

Richard took out two invitation letters from the drawer. One was from the Harwood family, and the other was from the Larson family.

At first, he didn’t intend to go, but it seemed like he didn’t have a choice now.

Richard picked up Harwood’s invitation and threw it into the rubbish bin.

“Get the car ready,” said Richard as he dialed the internal line of his company.

At the Larson residence, everyone’s focus was no longer on the banquet. Despite the smiles on their faces, deep down, they worried about being there. Most of them were planning to leave and head for the Harwood residence.

Holding a glass of wine, a fat, middle-aged tycoon came up to James.

“Mr. Larson, congratulations on the return of your daughter.”

“Thank you, James replied with a smile.

“I’ve just received a phone call from my secretary. There are some sudden issues in my company, and I have to leave the banquet to handle them. I’m sorry. I will see you another day.”

His expression appeared sincere enough.

James squeezed a smile and replied, “Work is important. Don’t worry about my daughter’s birthday.” After the businessman left the banquet, the smile on James’ face vanished instantly.

Not long after, another businessman greeted him and requested to leave the banquet using the same excuse. James could only swallow his anger and express his understanding with a smile.

Meanwhile, his secretary was already sweating all over. He knew that James had a big ego.

What those people did to him was like a slap in his face. At that very moment, a black and gold limited-edition Rolls-Royce Phantom stopped at the entrance of the mansion.

The businessmen who were planning to leave paused instantly.

They were stunned after seeing the man who got out of the car.

“Is he here for the birthday banquet?” The fat businessman murmured with uncertainty and astonishment.

Upon noticing the car, a staff of the Larsons knew at once that he was someone with prominent status and informed James instantly.

Meanwhile, James was busy talking to some company directors. They were all telling him how busy their schedules were and kept hinting that they wanted to leave. James almost lost control of his facial expressions.

“Mr. Larson, Mr. Charles Young is here.” Jason Levi, James’ secretary, stepped forward and declared loudly on purpose. James was stunned.

So were the company directors around him.

“Who’s here?”

“It’s Mr. Young,” Jason repeated.

James instantly felt that he was on cloud nine.

The four prestigious families are nothing compared with the Young family from Jadeborough! Charles alone is enough to overpower everyone here.

Chapter 125

James couldn’t help laughing. “Come on. Let’s go welcome Mr. Young.”

The company directors who were preparing to leave felt relieved for not leaving the scene yet.

Other guests could not believe their ears when they heard that Charles had arrived at the banquet.

“That couldn’t be! Charles is here?”

“I hope I didn’t hear it wrongly.”

“I thought Charles seldom makes his appearance at banquets, let alone a minor birthday celebration,” one of them exclaimed.

“Perhaps the staff made a mistake.” Someone raised a concern.

“Well, we will find out soon.”

The guests lost their interest in talking. They started to focus their gazes on the main entrance.

James hurried to the entrance. After seeing Charles, he let out a huge smile and stepped forward at once. “It’s my honor to have you at the Larson residence, Mr. Young!”

“Mr. Larson, it’s my pleasure. I heard that it’s Ms. Jessica’s birthday, so I’m here to join the fun. I hope I’m not intruding,” Charles replied politely.

“It’s an honor for us Larsons. This way please, Mr. Young.”

James was clear that he wasn’t the reason why Charles had come.

He had invited Charles to his father’s seventieth birthday celebration before, but Charles did not show up and instead ordered his subordinate to attend instead.

On the other hand, Charles chose to come all the way here for his daughter’s birthday. It was obvious that there was something unusual between the two of them.

James couldn’t help making various calculations in his head.

If Jess is married to Charles, then the Larson family will be able to prosper.

By the thought of it, James found that he started to be fond of Jessica.

Samantha was happy to know that Charles had arrived.

I knew that Uncle Charles would come. This time, no one will talk bad about Jess anymore.

Whitney was busy talking with her friends at the banquet when she heard the news. She almost lost her cool.

Why is Charles here? He is Samantha’s uncle, so she must be the one who asked Charles to stand up for Jessica.

Meanwhile, guests flooded the banquet of the Harwood residence.

The butler hurried to Jake’s side and whispered in his ears. Charles Young is at the Larson residence.”

Jake was shocked as his expression changed a little. “All right, I get it.”

He waved his hand to signal the butler to leave.

It was impossible to hide the news, especially when James. was extremely eager to let the world know about his distinguished guest.

Not long after, all the guests at the Harwood residence heard the news.

“Have you heard? Charles is at the Larson residence.”

“Charles? Are you referring to Charles Young?”

“Who else would I refer to?”

“It’s unbelievable that Mr. Young would attend Ms. Jessica’s birthday banquet. Is it fake news by the Larson family?” someone questioned.

“The second wife of Mr. Larson has taken a picture and sent it to her friends on Instagram.”

“Mr. Young did not attend old Mr. Harwood’s birthday celebration. Yet, he chose to attend Ms. Jessica’s birthday banquet today. Are the Larsons and the Youngs partnering up?”

“I’ve never heard of any partnership between them.”

“It seems that Mr. Young favors the Larsons over the Harwoods.”

“Mr. Young is a genius in the business field. He has sharp eyes,” said one of the guests as he tried to hint at something.

All of a sudden, everyone seemed to regret coming to the Harwood residence.

These guests could no longer keep their cool, especially those company directors who were eager to do business with the Young family.

Chapter 126

Sensing the declining mood, Jake immediately signaled to the butler to proceed with the cake-cutting and birthday wishes. This way, the guests would be too embarrassed to leave even if they wanted to.

The emcee then introduced Jake’s daughter, who descended the stairs like a princess. With her snowy white ballgown and immaculate makeup, she exuded the grace of a goddess.

However, she was greeted with lackluster and disconnected applause from the distracted audience.

Mrs. Harwood smiled brightly at the little vixen whilst tucking her hatred behind her cheery expression. Meanwhile, Richard rushed to the Larson residence with the gift from the Fergusons.

At the time, the bored staff at the entrance to the Larson residence were slouching apathetically. All the invited guests had arrived and those who had yet to reach would not come anyway.

Much to their surprise, a car came to a stop in front of the Larson residence.

“Good day, Sir. Could you please show me your invitation letter?” the staff requested politely.

Richard presented his invitation letter. While he bore his own invitation letter, he was there to represent the Ferguson family. Needless to say, there was a big gap in social standing between himself and his employer.

“Please inform Mr. Larson that I’m here to celebrate Ms. Jessica’s birthday on behalf of Jadeborough’s Ferguson family.”

“Sure, please hold on for a minute.”

Upon hearing the word “Jadeborough,” the staff knew that Richard had to be treated with the utmost respect even if Richard himself was not a Ferguson.

The staff wasted no time in reporting Richard’s arrival to the butler, who was no less startled by this surprise. He scurried off to find James, who was then vivaciously mingling with the guests.

“Mr. Larson, Jadeborough’s Ferguson family sends their birthday wishes to Miss Larson,” announced the butler loudly.

The guests were stupefied.

“Wait, who did you say just arrived?” James blurted out.

“A guest from Jadeborough’s Ferguson family has arrived.” The guests gasped.

Jadeborough’s Ferguson family was powerful without a doubt, bearing a reputation that rivals the Young family’s. More importantly, the three sons from the main Ferguson house were highly impressive and were regarded as role models for the next generation of the rich and important. James recovered his composure and turned to address the guests around him. “I need to receive the arriving guest first. Please excuse me.”

Upon his departure, the guests around him immediately began to chatter.

Just as quickly as he left, James returned whilst escorting Richard. The guests gradually took their turns to come up to welcome the latest guest.

Richard immediately picked out Charles amongst the many faces. His eyes brightened, and he made a beeline for Charles.

“Mr. Young, I hope that you are doing well.” Richard greeted him with a smile.

“Mr. Salvatore, you look like you are in good health.”

“Indeed, everything’s going great.”

“Mr. Salvatore, are you here today on behalf of the

Ferguson family?” Charles asked mildly.

When did the Larson family get close to the Ferguson family?

Richard smiled and agreed, “That is right.”

The eavesdropping guests heard Richard’s words confirming that he had graced the banquet on behalf of the Fergusons.

While the Ferguson family was not present, Richard, as the head of a branch office of the Ferguson Group, still possessed the authority to represent them.

However, without being explicitly instructed by the Fergusons, Richard was not in the position to openly announce his representation of the prominent family at the birthday celebration.

Meanwhile, at the Harwoods’ banquet, some of the visitors’ mobile phones began to ring. One of them flipped open a text message and gasped in astonishment. “Jadeborough’s Ferguson family went to congratulate the Larsons!”

“What?” the surrounding guests were shocked.

“Why would the Ferguson family attend the Larsons’ banquet?” The guests were in an uproar.

Previously, many people regretted their decision to attend the Harwoods’ banquet after finding out that Charles was at the Larsons’ party. Now that they realized a representative of the Ferguson family had joined as well, even more, guests started to feel like they were missing out.

“If I had known it would turn out like this, I would have attended the Larsons’ party instead.”

“I can’t believe I missed such a great opportunity to appear at a reputable woman’s birthday banquet.”

Some of the guests discreetly passed their greetings to the more junior Harwood family members before making a hasty exit for the Larson residence.

Chapter 127

Once some of the visitors began to take their leave, the other guests started to be restless as well.

One of the guests shamelessly asked the Harwood secretary, “Mr. Ziegler, please inform Mr. Harwood that an issue cropped up for us at home; as such, we have to take our leave first.”

Their intentions were clear to Andy, who just smiled and courteously replied, “It would be best, Sir, for you to inform Mr. Harwood directly.”

The guest feigned confusion. “Ah, but Mr. Harwood is so busy. How could I bother him with such a trivial matter? Please, forward my apologies to him. I will make it up to him later.”

Before Andy could even retort, the guest zoomed off as though he were being chased by zombies.

Slowly but surely, guests trickled out of the Harwood residence. As Jake observed the steady stream of visitors leaving, the smile on his face stiffened.

When the Harwood goddaughter glanced up in the middle of the cake-cutting event, she was startled to see the thinning audience.

Why does it feel like there are so few people now? The remaining members of the four prestigious families glanced at each other. One of the Lewises smirked and said, “Mr. Harwood, one of my underlings just informed me about a special situation that urgently requires my attention. As you said previously, these people are truly incompetent!”

Jake dared not offend the Lewis family. Instead, he responded cheerily, “Indeed, you are the guiding light of your staff. Without you, they are nothing.”

“My deepest apologies, but I would need to take my leave.”

“No need to apologize; your presence today was already a big honor for our little girl.”

After both parties bade their farewells, Mr. Lewis led his family out. The remaining three families also trailed out behind them upon that sight.

The remaining guests observed the four prestigious families leaving, and they guiltlessly escaped as well.

Almost instantaneously, the number of guests dwindled by two-thirds. The only ones remaining were business

partners who relied on the Harwood family. Of course, they too would have liked to join the Larson banquet but lacked the bargaining chips to leave.

This time, the Harwood family was completely crushed by the Larson family.

I have planned to embarrass the Larson family and teach Jessica a lesson. In the end, I made a fool of myself!

Smack!

The sound of a slap echoed through the hall.

The Harwood goddaughter held her swollen cheek and awkwardly stood in the middle of the room.

“You have humiliated our entire family!” Laura proceeded to vent her anger on the girl.

Realizing Laura was not yet done with venting, the girl immediately stepped back to escape Laura’s reach. “Today is not even my birthday,” she retorted. “Therefore, the fault is your son’s. He was the one who antagonized the Larsons, destroyed our business relationships, and shamed our family.”

“Shut up!” Jake yelled.

The girl trembled with fear, not making a single peep.

Laura still wanted to teach the girl a lesson but was scared into docility by Jake’s yell.

“You’d better educate your precious son well. If this becomes an issue again, I swear I will break his leg.”

Jake was so furious that, for the first time, he threatened his son in such a serious manner. Horrified, Laura remained silent.

Meanwhile, the banquet at the Larson residence was booming. Guests from the Harwood family streamed in gradually to shamelessly pay their respects.

The Larsons graciously hosted everyone with open arms.

Upon hearing about the arrival of the Ferguson family’s representative, Julianna became restless and anxious.

One of the ladies noticed her pallid complexion and voiced her concern. “Mrs. Larson, are you feeling all right?”

All the nearby ladies huddled closer and worried about her.

“If you are feeling unwell, you should take a breather. You’re not obliged to entertain us. Your well-being is the most important.”

Chapter 128

“You must be exhausted preparing Ms. Jessica’s banquet.” “She’s a parent, after all. All parents want the best for their children.”

Julianna only responded with a smile to the ladies and said, “Yes, I’ve been quite tired lately.”

“You have to take care.”

“Oh, right. I heard people saying that the Fergusons have come here for Ms. Jessica. Does she know the Ferguson family, Mrs. Larson?” one of the women asked out of curiosity.

Julianna’s heart skipped a beat at the words. Her face tensed, and her smile was awkward. “I’m not quite sure about this. Perhaps they’ve met before.”

“She seems to be very close with the Young family too,” commented another woman who sounded envious.

Her daughter’s just outstanding. She already has connections to the Youngs and Fergusons. She has just reunited with her own family and is already able to elevate the status of the Larsons.

Julianna’s smile hardened further. “Please excuse me as I need to go to the washroom. Do go ahead with your conversation.”

“Sure, sure.”

Once she left, the women started to gossip about Jessica.

Julianna went to the second floor and entered Jessica’s room. The beautiful young lady immediately caught her attention; she looked more stunning after a proper makeover.

Julianna smiled as she approached Jessica. “My daughter’ s so pretty. Are you tired?”

Jessica was caught off guard by Julianna’s sudden concern for her.

“No,” she replied with a neutral expression.

“Jess, how did you get to know the Ferguson family?” Julianna tried to sound unintentional.

Jessica scoffed in her heart as she heard the question.

I knew it. She’s here for something.

She did not bother to answer.

Julianna panicked at Jessica’s silence. “Jess, I’m asking you. How did you get to know them? I need to know what’s happening so that I can interact with them better.”

“I’m not that close to the Ferguson family. You can just treat them as you see fit.”

Julianna stopped questioning as she saw Jessica getting impatient. She pretended to sound hurtful, with tears welling up in her eyes.

“Jess, I know you’re mad at us. It’s our fault. I’ll try my best to make it up to you in the future. Please don’t be mad again. My heart breaks to see you like that.”

Her heart breaks?

Jessica almost laughed out loud.

Can they feel the pain? Do they even have hearts?

If they really cared about her, she would not have suffered so much in her past life.

She had to sacrifice herself to fulfill their happiness.

How is this life any different? They’re only starting to prioritize me because of the Youngs and Fergusons. I knew it. The Larsons only care about themselves. They must be feeling “guilty” and “sad” because they see the value in me. How pathetic.

It was naive of her to want love and warmth from those heartless and selfish people.

I was terribly naive in my past life!

Jessica realized their nature by then.

Julianna clenched her teeth at the young lady’s indifferent manner. “Jess, as your mom, I love you. You know that, right? No mother doesn’t love her kids.”

Chapter 129

Jessica used to fall for those words. She actually believed them.

After all, all parents are supposed to care for their children. She chose to believe them but ended up paying the price. In this life, Jessica would not believe them anymore, no matter how they tried to sweet-talk her.

To suffer once is more than enough!

She would rather end her life if she had not learned her lesson.

At that moment, Willow rushed upstairs. She smiled at them. “It’s time for you to go down now, Ms. Jessica.” Julianna smiled as she reached out to Jessica. “Let’s go down together, Jess.”

Jessica dodged away from her hand. “It’s okay. Today’s my birthday, my stage.”

It was only the beginning of her performance.

As music filled the air, the crowd shifted their gaze to the second floor. They turned to see a young lady in a purple dress slowly descending the stairs.

Her skin was as smooth as silk. That dark hair fell perfectly behind her ears, and her dark brows complemented her bright eyes. She gave off a cold and ethereal aura.

The guests gawked at her appearance.

That was her first time showing herself in front of an upper-class crowd.

She did not seem like she had been homeless for years,

given her stunning looks and elegance.

In fact, she looked more outstanding than other ladies from rich families.

“This is Ms. Jessica?!” A lady gasped.

“Oh, my goodness. She does not seem like she used to live in that kind of place. I’d believe it if someone told me she’s been living with the Larson family all these years.”

“She’s so beautiful.”

“This is what a socialite should look like.”

“No wonder there are people from the Young and Ferguson families. She will be a stunning lady in the future.”

“She’s a gem!”

Whitney was standing behind the crowd as she stared at the stunning young lady. Her face twisted in jealousy. Those compliments from the crowd were like sharp knives piercing through her.

Everyone had probably forgotten about the eldest Larson daughter at that moment.

Sure, go ahead and praise her all you want! You’ll see what kind of person she is soon.

Charles’ gaze never left Jessica. His eyes darkened at her figure.

The young lady before him was elegant. However, he could not help but think of that seductive girl back in the alley.

What an interesting girl!

Samantha walked silently to Charles. She looked up to see a smile on his face.

Oh my goodness! Uncle Charles is smiling? No, he’s almost grinning!

Richard smiled as he watched Jessica walk up the stage. Such a beauty. No wonder Mr. Ferguson was eager to attend her banquet today. He has good taste!

“Please cut the cake.” The master of ceremony smiled at her.

Jessica took the knife from the waiter’s tray.

She was about to cut the cake when a man in a waiter’s uniform rushed up to the stage. He charged toward her.

Amusement glistened in Jessica’s eyes as she saw the man.

The show’s just about to start!

Chapter 130

Charles immediately rushed to block Jessica from the man. The man, who was thrown to the floor by Charles’ kick, screamed in pain.

“Ouch!”

The guests were shocked at the sudden turn of events, and they all looked at the man.

He stood up with his hands covering his abdomen.

“Who are you?” someone shouted.

The man pointed at Jessica. “She knows best who I am. Tell them you’re my wife!”

James was mad. He glared at the butler. “Call the security guards, now! Bring him away!”

He was unwilling to let anyone ruin his daughter’s bright future.

Charles looked at Jessica to see excitement glistening in her eyes.

The man continued. “I know, I shouldn’t have made you abort the baby back then. I had no choice… Please forgive me, will you? Don’t be mad at me, please?”

He added, “It was not easy finding you. I thought you disappeared. I can’t believe I finally found you here. It must be fate.”

The man then confessed his love to her. Yet, those were the words that put Jessica’s reputation at risk.

They implicated that she got pregnant before marriage, aborted her child, and had a messy private life.

The guests were dumbfounded by the drastic difference between her elegant image descending the stairs earlier and the revelation they had just heard.

“Please forgive me, Darling!” The man placed a hand on his chest as he stared at her affectionately.

A smile crept up onto Jessica’s face as she looked at the man before her. She could feel her blood boiling as the urge to destroy him rose in her.

It was that man who had ruined her reputation in her past life. He turned her into a laughingstock.

He made her parents and relatives insult her.

Despite trying hard to explain herself, nobody believed her.

Moreover, they jumped straight to conclusions.

Perhaps she had no value to them back then.

Or maybe that was how they thought of her from the start. Hence, they immediately believed those rumors.

Samantha could no longer listen more to what the man had to say. She rushed up the stage. “You said you know Jessy. Are you kidding me? She’d be beyond crazy to have fallen for someone like you. Dream on!”

Jessica glanced at Samantha and Charles’ tall figure in front of her. The smile on her face became softer.

Who am I to deserve their help?

In her past life, she was always the one to bear the pain for others.

Nobody was concerned about her.

In fact, nobody was willing to protect her selflessly.

I am a simple girl with a deep brown hair, and a brown eyes. As I grew up I was the laughing-stock of my cousins and playmates by teasing me "Negra" because I am not blessed with fair skin. Those memories just makes me "Smile" everytime I remember it, although I still have a dark skin but I love "Myself" Nakkkssss!!! I grew up in Castilla, Sorsogon, loved my elementary and high school but enjoyed most of my college days. Aside from my work I have other or rather many interest. I love adventure, learning new languages and it's culture, animals, natures, being out in the woods, in the mountains, long walks on the beach, in the rural areas, and i'm at home in the city as well. I'm a music enthusiast (any genre depend on my mood), a foodie, a portrait fanatic, and a movie buff. :) I can know a little bit about everything but I cannot master of anything. Personality wise, I think I am 30-50% good natured, 40 % charming, 15% sarcastic, 10% evil, 40% funny, 25% naugthy ;) :P, hmmm what else? ;) If you have a banner or Link Ads, an Articles, feel free to Email Me!
