Chapter 701
“Don’t worry. I’ll bring David back safely.”
Talia nodded, watching anxiously as Melody got into the car and drove off.
As Melody settled into the car, she recalled that David used to jokingly call Talia “Momma Talia” and referred to Melody as “Boss.” It was probably why the caller had targeted her and Talia. Thankfully, he had contacted her immediately, allowing her to respond quickly and head straight to Lose Demon Nightclub.
Once in the car, Melody instructed Spencer to drive to the nightclub while she opened her laptop. Using her hacking skills, she quickly identified the caller. His name was Reece Graham, the owner of the bar. Though his background was unremarkable, his girlfriend, Sabrina Webb, was the
daughter of the Webb Group’s chairman, a company with ties to the Swanson Group.
Melody remembered that Sabrina had once been close to Mabel. In her previous life, Sabrina had visited a few times, always bossing her around.
Considering the Webb family’s relationship with the
Swanson Group, Melody hesitated before calling Ken. She explained the situation with Janet to Ken and then mentioned Sabrina.
“You don’t need to worry about her,” Ken replied. “Handle things as you see fit. The Webb Group is small. If she causes you trouble, I can end our partnership with them.”
Ken had the power to do so.
Melody felt relieved. “Alright, I won’t let their relationship with Swanson affect my actions.”
“Good. Be careful. Take Spencer with you.”
“Okay.”
After the call, James, who had overheard the conversation, looked at Ken curiously.
Ken noticed and raised an eyebrow. “What?”
James hesitated before asking, “Do you want to go check on things yourself?”
“There’s no need.”
James was puzzled. ‘But doesn’t Mr. Ken like Miss Fox? Shouldn’t he be worried?’
Ken, seemingly reading James’s thoughts, answered calmly, “It would take me 50 minutes to get there. By the time I arrived, she would have already handled the situation.”
He trusted Melody’s abilities. If the threat had been more serious, he would have rushed over without hesitation. His priority now was to deal with the Webb Group.
Ken closed the contract he was reviewing and instructed, “Transfer all information on the Webb Group’s projects to me immediately.”
“Yes, sir!” James quickly complied.

Thanks to Spencer’s skilled driving, they arrived at Lose Demon Nightclub in under 15 minutes.
As they approached, Melody gave instructions. “Follow my lead. When you see an opportunity, get David out first. Don’t worry about me. I can take care of myself.”
“Yes, Miss Fox,” Spencer responded, nodding quickly.
It was still early, so the bar was quiet. As soon as Melody entered, she spotted David tied up with a rag stuffed in his mouth. His eyes widened in alarm when he saw her, and though he was gagged, his muffled sounds were clear. He wanted her to leave him and get out.
Melody frowned but ignored David’s pleas, quickly assessing his condition. Aside from a swollen face and a few bruises, he seemed unharmed, which eased her worry.
“Boss! She’s here!” a loud voice called out, and a tall, lanky young man appeared from a side door. He wore a punk-style outfit, but his roguish demeanor made him seem untrustworthy despite his decent looks.
Melody compared him to the information she had dug up. This was Reece. But seeing him in person, she felt a strange sense of familiarity, as if they had crossed paths before.
Reece seemed to recognize her too. His expression darkened. “It’s you!”
‘Have we met before, Melody thought. Melody hesitated, unsure. “You are?”
“You’re the bitch who beat up Zane and our guys at the barbecue shop! Did you forget?” Reece stepped closer, eyes burning with anger, ready to pounce on her.
Melody finally remembered. He was a friend of Nana Jensen’s son. No wonder he seemed familiar.
But with David still in his grasp, Melody kept her composure. She smiled calmly and said, “So, we’re all friends. This is just a misunderstanding. How much was that bottle of wine my friend broke? I can pay you double.”
She was well-off now, with assets totaling over millions of dollars. If money could solve the problem, there was no need for violence.
“Friend? You dislocated my hand that day, and it still hasn’t fully healed. Now you want to play nice?” Reece spat on the ground, his eyes full of contempt.
Melody didn’t flinch. “That incident was my fault, but it’s separate from what happened today. My friend had nothing to do with our past. I believe you’re someone who knows how to separate personal and business matters. If you have an issue with me, let’s settle it, and leave my friend out of it.”
Reece pulled up a chair and sat down, sizing her up with increasing disdain. None of her clothes were branded, which only made him more contemptuous.
“I don’t think you can afford to pay for that wine. But if you want to settle this, there’s a way.”
When Reece said this, his men immediately understood and closed the door behind them. Melody didn’t show any fear as she smiled and said, “Mr. Graham, name a number. Perhaps I can afford it.”
Reece sneered at her, then as if something just occurred to him, he said, “You can’t afford the wine but there is another way to resolve the matter.”
Melody asked patiently, “And how do you suggest we resolve this?”
Reece’s lips curled into a greedy smirk. “Simple. If you can get Zara to spend the day with me, I’ll let it all slide. No need to pay for the wine, and we’ll call it even. What do you say?”
Chapter 702
Melody’s lips twitched, but the smile didn’t reach her eyes.
“Mr. Graham, your joke isn’t amusing. Let’s focus on the price of that wine. If doubling the compensation isn’t enough, I can pay you ten times the amount.”
“Ten times? Ha!”
Reece laughed mockingly. “That bottle was a collector’s item, worth 180 thousand dollars. You say you’ll pay ten times that? You couldn’t even afford a tenth of it! So, stop wasting time and get Zara here, or don’t even think about leaving with your friend!
“And don’t think you’re tough just because you can fight. Last time, we weren’t prepared, but today, my men are all professionals. Don’t make things worse for yourself.”
Reece paused, then added, “You beat up more than just me last time. If I wanted, I could call the others, and they’d love to deal with you, especially Zane. He’s been itching for revenge. You’d better think carefully before you refuse calling Zara.
At that, Melody couldn’t help but laugh.
Reece’s expression darkened. “What’s so funny?”
Melody tugged at her sleeves and said calmly, “Reece, you’re close with Zane, right? He’s in police custody, awaiting trial. Don’t you know?”
Reece’s face froze. “That’s impossible!”
Melody shrugged. “If you don’t believe me, ask around. You’ll find out that Zane’s in jail.”
Reece didn’t believe it and quickly called one of Zane’s close friends. After a few questions, he learned the truth. Zane had gone to where Melody worked to cause trouble, but instead of teaching her a lesson, he got himself and his mother arrested. They’d even been kicked out of the Jensen family.
“Damn it! How dare you put my bro in jail!”
Melody spoke slowly, “Don’t get it twisted. I didn’t do anything to him. He brought it on himself. Now, I’ll ask one last time. Will you accept ten times the compensation?”
Just then, David managed to spit out the cloth gagging him.
“Miss Fox, don’t be fooled! I didn’t break that bottle of wine. Reece did it himself and tried to frame me!”
“I see.” Melody looked at Reece coldly. “In that case, I don’t owe you a dime. Now untie my friend, or I won’t be so polite.”
Melody had tried reasoning with Reece because she didn’t want to resort to violence, assuming David might have been at fault. But now, knowing David wasn’t to blame, she felt no need to hold back.
Reece, however, burst out laughing as if he’d heard the funniest joke. “Listen to this, boys! This ugly freak thinks you’re all just decorations! Ha.”
Melody’s eyes narrowed.
“You refuse to see reason.”
“Do you want me to beat some sense into you? Fine, have it your way. Boys, get her!”
At his command, a group of thugs rushed toward Melody.
Spencer stepped in front of her. “Miss Fox, let me handle this. No need to dirty your hands.”
“Alright, I’ll leave it to you. I’ll get David.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
As soon as Spencer finished speaking, the thugs attacked. But he didn’t take them seriously. In under two minutes, all 20 of them were on the ground, groaning in pain,
completely incapacitated.
“Damn it!”
Reece hadn’t taken the skinny Spencer seriously at first, but
now he was furious seeing how easily his men were defeated.
“Get up, you useless idiots! Fight back!”
“Huh?” Spencer’s eyes flashed with cold, sharp intent.
Reece shuddered, finally sensing danger.
“You, stay away.”
Suddenly, Reece’s eyes landed on David, still tied to a chair. A sinister idea crossed his mind. He could use David as a hostage.
But as Reece took a step forward, he tripped over a foot that suddenly extended in his path.
With a loud thud, Reece fell face-first onto the floor.
“Ah!” he screamed in pain, instinctively looking up at who had tripped him.
Before he could fully register what happened, a foot pressed down on his back, pinning him to the ground.
“Ah!!!” Reece screamed again, feeling as though his spine had been shattered. The pain was unbearable, and tears welled up in his eyes.
Melody looked down at him, her expression cold and unfeeling.
With one foot on his back, she leaned down and stared at Reece’s flushed face. “I warned you not to refuse a reasonable offer. Why didn’t you listen?”
Reece tried to curse, but before he could, Melody continued, “Since my friend didn’t break the wine, we’ll be leaving now. Consider this a small lesson. If we meet again, I’ll make sure you’re unable to stand for the rest of your life.”
“You.”
“Hmm?” Melody pressed down harder with her foot. “Are you still not convinced?”
Reece was in so much pain that cold sweat covered his forehead. He was terrified Melody would actually crush him. Trembling, he stammered, “I’m convinced. It’s my fault. Just take your friend and go. No need to pay!”
“And do I still need to call Zara over?”
“No, no! Just go!”
Satisfied, Melody lifted her foot and signaled Spencer to untie David. Together, they headed for the door.
But just as they reached it, Reece, struggling to his feet, shouted after them, “I won’t let you get away with this! My girlfriend is the daughter of the Webb Group. Just you wait. I’ll make you pay!”
His voice dripped with venom, like a snake ready to strike.
Hearing this, Melody paused and turned back to face him, her expression indifferent.
Chapter 703
When Reece saw Melody’s cold, emotionless eyes, his whole body tensed up. He shuddered, pulled his neck in, and quickly retreated to the private room.
Melody sneered in disdain, ignoring Reece, and led David out of the bar.
Outside, David looked at the sign of the Lose Demon Nightclub and then up at the bright sunlight. It felt like he had been through a lifetime.
“Miss Fox,” he mumbled, hanging his head in shame. “I’m sorry. I’ve caused you trouble again.”
He had heard Reece mention the daughter of the Webb Group. Although David didn’t know much about them, he could tell she wasn’t someone to take lightly. He felt guilty.
But just as David braced himself for Melody’s scolding, she asked with concern, “Have you eaten?”
David was taken aback and shook his head instinctively. No.”
“Not even breakfast?”
“I didn’t eat.”
Melody sighed. Realizing it was lunchtime, she simply said, “Let’s grab some lunch nearby first. We can talk after we eat.”
David nodded obediently and followed behind Melody.
*****
Meanwhile, in a high-end restaurant, a group of well-
dressed socialites was enjoying an elegant meal. Mabel sat at the center, surrounded by compliments and flattery. “Mabel, I always knew you’d marry into a wealthy family. Once you become the Swanson family’s daughter-in-law, don’t forget us!”
“Yes, Mabel. My family’s business deal with the Swanson Group is still pending. I’ll be counting on you!”
Though Mabel felt pleased with the attention, she tried to remain composed. “It’s too early to talk about that.”
“Too early? You’re the first girlfriend Mr. Ulric has acknowledged publicly. Who else could be the future Mrs. Swanson?”
Mabel couldn’t help but feel smug, but a lingering unease gnawed at her.
Ulric had been detained by the police for investigation and hadn’t been released yet. The Swanson family had kept the news under wraps, so no one knew. But if Ulric didn’t get out soon, the truth would eventually spread, and the flattery would vanish.
Mabel’s emotions were conflicted. Pride mingled with anxiety.
Just then, one of the socialites spoke with a sly smile, Mabel, I heard your mother passed away in prison. It’s tragic, but seeing you here with us, I’m a bit relieved. When the funeral date is set, I’ll be there to help.”
At the mention of Mabel’s mother, Yolanda, everyone suddenly remembered her imprisonment. Even in death, this was a stain on Mabel’s life.
Mabel’s smile faltered.
She shot a glare at the woman who had spoken. As her best friend,” this woman had once had feelings for Ulric, so Mabel suspected she was speaking out of jealousy.
Though they called each other friends, none of them wanted to be overshadowed.
Mabel clenched her teeth, then quickly put on a sorrowful expression. “My mother was framed by my stepsister and sent to prison. She was depressed and fell ill. Sabrina, do you really need to bring up my pain to feel good?” The woman, Sabrina, frowned and forced a smile. “Mabel, you misunderstood me. I’m just concerned about you.” Mabel didn’t respond, giving Sabrina a cold stare instead.
Sabrina awkwardly continued, “So your mother was killed by your sister? How awful!”
Rumors about Yolanda’s imprisonment were rampant, with the most common one being that Yolanda had tried to harm Maria and was arrested for it.
Hearing Mabel’s words, no one dared to contradict her, especially not with Ulric involved. They all joined in criticizing Melody.
Only then did Mabel’s mood improve, but she still pretended to be sad. “That sister of mine, if you ever run into her, steer clear. She’s not easy to deal with. If she was, my mother wouldn’t have died because of her.”
Just as Sabrina was about to comment, her phone rang.
“Sorry, I need to take this.”
She got up and left the room.
On the other end, Reece exaggerated his encounter with Melody, detailing how she had beaten him up. “I told her you’re my girlfriend, but she said you’re nothing. I can’t stand it, but I can’t beat her either. I’ve got someone following her. Sabrina, you’ve got to stand up for me!”
Back in the private room, the conversation shifted as soon as Mabel left.
One of the young women, eager to curry favor, whispered, Did you hear? Her boyfriend’s just a thug, not at all respectable.”
“A thug? Was that him on the phone just now?”
“She didn’t even answer it in front of us. Must be.”
“Tsk, I thought she had high standards. Turns out she’s nothing special.”
“How ridiculous. She’s dating a thug and still dares to look down on our Mabel. She’s nothing compared to her.”
At that moment, Sabrina returned with a dark expression.
“Ladies, something’s come up at home. You go on without me-I have to leave.”
Everyone smiled politely. “Alright, take care.”
Sabrina forced a smile and hurried out. As soon as she was outside, she called back.
“Where are you? I’m coming to see you now.”
“I’m at the bar. Sabrina, you’ve got to get justice for me!”
Her mood already ruined by Mabel, Sabrina was eager for a confrontation. “I’ll meet you there and settle the score with that bitch!”
“Okay, I’ll be waiting!”
*****
At the Blue Moon Lounge, which was just five minutes from the Lose Demon Nightclub, Melody brought David inside.
Moon had reserved the same private room from before and greeted them with a smile. “Where’s Ken?”
“She’s at work. By the way, this is my colleague from the medical center.”
Moon smiled warmly at David. “Hello! Please take care of Melody at the medical center.”
David, unfamiliar with such a high-end place, nodded nervously.
“Enjoy your meal,” Moon said, sensing David’s discomfort and tactfully leaving them alone.
“Miss Fox…” David said hesitantly, looking at the table full of delicious food. “Aren’t you going to scold me?”
Melody pointed at the food. “Let’s eat first.”
David nodded and began eating.
After the meal, Melody asked, “So, why did you go to that nightclub when you don’t usually go to bars?”
Chapter 704
Since it had already happened, Melody didn’t blame David. Everyone had times when they were confused.
However, since it had already happened once, she had to think of a way to prevent it from happening again. If she didn’t solve the root of the problem, such a thing would still happen.
David lowered his head in shame and stammered, “I was in a bad mood yesterday, so I wanted to find a place to drink some wine. In the end, I accidentally drank too much and slept until the bottle of wine was broken.”
Melody looked at David steadily and said, “It’s understandable to drown your sorrows in alcohol. Then tell me, why were you in a bad mood?”
“Well…” David choked. He pursed his lips tightly and did not speak.
Melody frowned. After a moment of silence, she asked, “Is it because Nana left Herbathrive?”
David’s hand paused and the fork in his hand fell to the ground.
Melody knew that she had guessed correctly. She sighed and said, “Nana was raised as an heir by the Jensen family since she was young. Although she had many bad habits in the past, it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have the ability to take charge. The choice she made was very correct. She can’t stay in Herbathrive as an accountant for me forever.” David clenched his fists tightly and said, “I know. I also know that I’m not from the same circle as her. But I just… can’t let go. I wanted to drink because I knew that she’d drift apart from me in the future, and I couldn’t do anything. about it.”
Melody asked hesitantly, “Did Nana break up with you before she left?”
David quickly shook his head. “No, we’ve never officially been together.”
“What did she say before she left?”
“She said… she wanted me to be her boyfriend.”
Melody looked up with confusion in her eyes. “Isn’t that a
good thing? What’s there to drown your sorrows in? I thought she broke up with you, so you went to the bar to drink.”
David gritted his teeth and said, “I rejected her.”
“What? Don’t you like her too?” Melody was stunned. David smiled bitterly and said, “She’s the daughter of the Jenson family. I admit that I’m not worthy of her. The difference in our statuses is too great. It’s impossible for us to have a happy ending. Therefore, it’s better to suffer short-term pain than long-term pain. I might as well end it now.”
Melody could not help but laugh. “So the thing is, you rejected her and yet went to drink because you were in a bad mood, right?”
David hesitated before saying, “Yes.”
“David…” Melody looked at David exasperatedly and said, Relationships have never been about status. It’s not the same as before. You don’t need to be of equal status to be together as long as your relationship is solid enough.
“You think it’s better to have short-term pain than long-term pain now, but in fact, short-term pain is also painful, right? Also, Nana, whom you rejected, will only suffer more than you.
“To be honest, I think you’re unmanly like this. You’re afraid that you’ll suffer even more in the future, so you’re hurting her now. Is that fair to her? Is that fair to you? You might as well fight with all your might and persevere until the end.” The dim light in David’s eyes lit up bit by bit.
Melody was about to continue persuading, but David suddenly stood up and said, “Miss Fox, I understand. Thank you. I know what to do. No matter what happens in the future, I have to be true to my heart now. I like Nana and will do my best to be with her until the end.”
Melody smiled and said, “That’s right. Nana is probably still in the company. When she gets off work, go to the entrance of her company and wait for her. Remember to buy a bouquet. Girls like flowers. Also, tidy yourself up before you go over. You reek of alcohol. She won’t like it.”
David nodded vigorously. “Alright. I understand.”
Melody knocked on the table and said, “Sit down and eat more. You didn’t eat much just now.”
“Okay.” David, who had no appetite just now, suddenly felt hungry. He took a new fork and began to eat vigorously.
Melody took a deep breath in relief but suddenly thought of herself.
That day in the ward, she rejected Ken because of her cowardice.
She thought, ‘If only I had David’s courage. It’s laughable that I had thought that David was not manly enough just now. Aren’t I also a coward in relationships?’
*****
At the same time, Sabrina brought a group of well-trained bodyguards to Blue Moon Lounge.
Reece, who was sitting in a wheelchair, pointed at Blue Moon Lounge and said, “It’s here. The person I sent to follow them said that they’re in a private room on the second floor.”
“Blue Moon Lounge?” Sabrina said hesitantly, “Didn’t you say that the woman who attacked you was poor and ugly? Blue Moon Lounge isn’t a place where just anyone can go in for a meal.”
Reece said, “She definitely doesn’t have any background. She’s wearing very shabby clothes. The shoes on her feet are even canvas shoes that cost less than 20 dollars. I’m not sure why she can dine at Blue Moon Lounge.”
“The backer behind Blue Moon Lounge seems to be the Swanson family. Forget it, I’ll go in and take a look first.” Frowning, Sabrina still walked towards Blue Moon Lounge. However, when the group of people reached the entrance, they were stopped by the usher. “Excuse me, do you have a reservation?”
Sabrina rolled her eyes and said with a smile, “I’m the best friend of Mr. Swanson’s girlfriend. I don’t need a reservation, right?”
“Mr. Swanson’s girlfriend? Do you mean Miss Fox?” The usher’s expression softened.
The proprietress had told him that anyone who was Melody’ s friend could dine here without making a reservation. When Sabrina saw the change in the usher’s expression, she immediately knew that she had made the right bet. Blue Moon Lounge’s backer was indeed Ulric.
Sabrina nodded and said, “That’s right. I was eating with her not long ago.”
The usher immediately smiled and said, “Since you’re Miss Fox’s friend, there’s no need to make a reservation. Please come in. You can sit wherever there’s an empty seat.”
Raising an eyebrow, Sabrina walked in with Reece and her men.
After entering, Sabrina was both envious and resentful. “I didn’t expect Mabel’s name to be so useful.”
“Who is Mabel?” Reece, who had never come into contact with the upper-class society, had naturally never heard of Mabel’s name.
“No one. She’s just a pretty face who likes to show off.” Not willing to mention Mabel, Sabrina went straight to the second floor.
Reece was in a wheelchair, so two bodyguards carried him upstairs.
Sabrina pointed at this end of the private rooms and said, ” Reece, you’ll start looking from here. I’ll start from that end. Call me when you find her. Oh, by the way, does that woman have any recognizable characteristics?”
Reece replied, “She’s easy to spot. She’s ugly with red spots all over her face.”
“Okay.” Sabrina nodded and led half of her men to the other end of the private rooms.
In the private room that Melody was in, David was almost done eating. When he looked up, he saw Melody looking down. She seemed to be in a bad mood.
Just as he was about to ask, the door of the private room was suddenly pulled open.
Chapter 705
Melody and David subconsciously looked at the door at the same time and met the gaze of Reece, who was peeking inside.
Melody and David were stunned at the same time. Reece was obviously stunned too, but he immediately reacted and shouted, “Sabrina, I found them. They’re here.”
“Miss Fox…” David suddenly became nervous.
Melody gave David a reassuring look and stood up indifferently. “Reece, didn’t I tell you? If I see you again, I won’t let you off easily like last time.”
Reece’s back still hadn’t fully recovered. When he heard that, he gritted his teeth in hatred. “Don’t be so arrogant. Your helper isn’t here. Do you think you’ll be so lucky this time? Today, I’ll let you know what it means to return an eye for an eye.”
Melody chuckled. She knew that Reece was referring to Spencer. However, Reece probably did not know that Spencer’s skills were far inferior to hers.
Melody narrowed her eyes, put down her fork, and walked towards Reece.
Reece could not help but feel nervous. His throat quickly bobbed up and down.
However, from the corner of his eye, he saw that Sabrina was already running over with her men. His eyes suddenly lit up. Before Melody could touch him, he turned his body and fell off the wheelchair.
“Oh!” His scream echoed up and down the corridor.
When Sabrina heard Reece’s scream, she immediately gasped. “Damn it, get over there!”
In the room, Melody looked at Reece, who was lying on the ground, and a trace of ruthlessness appeared in her eyes.
Melody thought, ‘Is he trying to frame me?’
Just as she was about to step forward, Sabrina had already arrived at the door with her men.
“Sabrina, save me. This woman hit me again.” Reece pretended to be in pain as he crawled towards Sabrina.
Sabrina’s heart ached as she walked forward to help Reece up. After Reece sat down in the wheelchair, Sabrina looked at Melody fiercely.
When she saw Melody’s face, her eyes suddenly widened. Melody? It’s you?”
Melody raised an eyebrow. “You know me?” She had never come into contact with Sabrina in this life.
“Humph! Your ugly face has long been known throughout our socialite circle.” With a look of disdain, Sabrina quickly made a plan in her mind.
Sabrina thought, ‘Since Mabel hates Melody so much and has a grudge against Melody for killing her mother, I might be able to gain some benefits if I help Mabel teach Melody a lesson now.
Although Sabrina was very unhappy about being
suppressed by Mabel, in the face of absolute benefits, her pride was worthless.
Thinking of this, Sabrina raised her chin high and looked at Melody as if she was looking at an ant. “You actually dared to hit my boyfriend and even hit him twice. I’ll settle this score with you today.”
“Hit her. Sabrina hit her and avenged me. I clearly didn’t do anything just now, but she pinned me to the ground and hit me.” Reece, who was beside Sabrina, displayed his superb acting skills.
David quickly explained to Melody, “He’s lying. Miss Fox didn’t touch him at all just now. He fell to the ground himself.”
Obviously, Sabrina did not believe him. “You think I’ll believe your bullshit?”
Melody sneered and suddenly charged toward Reece.
Before anyone could react, Melody pulled Reece out of the wheelchair and threw him hard against the wall.
There was a muffled thud, followed by the sound of bones breaking on Reece’s body.
When Reece fell from the wall to the ground, blood seeped out of his mouth and his entire body was fractured. He could not move at all.
For a moment, Sabrina and her men were stunned.
Melody moved so fast and was so strong. If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, they wouldn’t have believed that this seemingly thin girl could have such skills.
Melody clapped her hands as if she wanted to brush off the dust from Reece’s body.
Melody looked at Sabrina indifferently. “Did you see that? This is the strength I use when I hit someone.”
Reece opened his mouth and wanted to say something, but the moment he opened his mouth, he spat out a mouthful of blood and fainted.
“Miss Fox…” David was flabbergasted. “Aren’t you being too impulsive?”
Melody asked without changing her expression, “Do you think they would let us go if we didn’t do anything?”
David was rendered speechless. He already had an answer in his heart. Of course, the other party would not let them off.
Meanwhile, Sabrina finally snapped out of her shock and glared at Melody. “Bitch, how dare you hit my boyfriend in front of me!”
Melody shrugged. “I didn’t hit him. I just wanted to prove that I didn’t hit him just now.”
“You…” Sabrina was so angry that her face turned red. She waved her hand and ordered, “Attack! Beat her to death. Don’t spare her life.”
“Yes!” The bodyguards behind Sabrina responded and rushed towards Melody.
“Miss Fox, think of a way to escape. I’ll hold them back.” Although David was afraid, he braced himself and stood in front of Melody.
Melody grabbed David and pushed him under the table.
Then, she rushed towards the group of people.
The leading bodyguard did not take Melody seriously at all.
He thought, ‘So what if she’s strong? It’s just brute force. Compared to professionally trained special bodyguards like us, she’s still far inferior.’
However, just as this thought appeared in his mind, the bodyguard was kicked in the abdomen by Melody.
His face turned pale. He held his stomach and knelt. When he wanted to stand up, he realized that he had no strength at all.
He thought, ‘How could this be?’
The next second, a fist hit him in the face. His vision darkened and he instantly lost consciousness.
One, two, three…
In less than a minute, the ten bodyguards Sabrina had brought with her were all lying on the ground. Some were unconscious. Those who were still conscious did not have the ability to fight back.
Before Sabrina could see what Melody was doing, she realized that there was only one bodyguard left by her side. Shocked, Sabrina took a step back subconsciously and asked in disbelief, “Where-Where did you learn your skills? Aren’t you a girl who came back from the countryside? How could you…
Sabrina thought, ‘How could she be so powerful?”
She could not bring herself to praise Melody, but the fear in her eyes had already betrayed her.
Melody still had an indifferent expression on her face, and her breathing was even. “Where I learned my skills has nothing to do with you. But are you sure you want to continue fighting me?”
Sabrina gritted her teeth tightly, her eyes filled with anger and indignation.
She thought, ‘Why? Not only am I suppressed by Mabel, but I also lost to this ugly country bumpkin. I’ll never admit defeat.
“Go.” Sabrina grabbed her bodyguard and pushed him towards Melody.
The bodyguard was so scared that his legs went weak. Before he could do anything, he had already been kicked back to Sabrina’s feet.
“Trash!” Sabrina scolded him fiercely as she suddenly thought of something.
