Chapter 546

The car’s rear window rolled down, revealing Mabel’s delicate face. Melody caught sight of Russell sitting on the other side of the back seat.

“Melody, what are you doing here?” Mabel asked, her tone full of surprise.

Mabel still feigned affection at this point. Melody grudgingly admired her dedication. When it came to the art of deception, Mabel and Ulric were quite the match.

But after all this time, Melody never returned to the Fox family. This only fueled his curiosity about where she had been and how she had managed to survive in Silverlake.

So, when Russell unexpectedly ran into Melody today, his feelings were more excitement than curiosity.

Melody hadn’t planned on acknowledging the father and daughter duo, but then she remembered that she hadn’t yet taken back the Justalion Group. With that in mind, she finally turned her gaze toward the back seat.

She said, “Mr. Fox, you’re here too? I was planning to find you. I didn’t expect to run into you here.”

Russell immediately frowned. “Mr. Fox?”

Melody smiled. “What? Did I call you wrong? Surely you haven’t forgotten that we signed an agreement severing our father-daughter relationship?”

Russell’s face darkened, and he spat out angrily, “You wretch! I’m your father. No matter what we signed, I’ll always be your old man!”

Mabel chimed in, trying to stoke the flames. “That’s right, Melody. Without Dad, you wouldn’t be here. Stop being so stubborn. Just apologize to him and come home.”

Mabel was shocked as she saw the menace in Melody’s eyes. A chill ran down her spine, and she suddenly broke out in a cold sweat, too frightened to utter another word.

Melody shot a cold glare at Mabel before turning her attention back to Russell.

She said, “Since you cheated on Mom, you’ve ceased to be my father. I’m here just to remind you that the agreement states you owe me shares of the Justalion Group. I suggest you comply within a week, or you’ll find me less forgiving.”

Russell’s eyes narrowed, fury blazing within them. “How dare you demand shares after everything you’ve done? No way!”

Not wanting Melody to take any shares, Mabel quickly brought up past grievances.

Mable chimed in, “Melody, you’re going too far. The agreement does specify shares for you, but blood ties aren’t easily severed. Plus, you’ve never contributed anything to the Fox family. How dare you claim shares? Don’t forget, you even incited others to beat Dad and me!”

Mabel had initially hesitated to mention the assault, finding it too humiliating and likely to be laughed at. However, seeing Melody’s determination to claim shares, Melody felt she had no choice but to provoke Russell further.

Russell’s face darkened as he recalled the embarrassing details. He flung open the car door, marched up to Melody, and glared at her.

He warned, “As long as I am alive, you will never take a cent from me!! was going to give you a chance to admit your mistakes and return to the Fox family, but I’ve changed my mind. You will no longer be associated with me! Even if you die, I won’t come to claim your body!”

Hearing Russell’s words, Mabel couldn’t help but smile. It seemed she had worried for nothing. Russell, being so stingy, would never part with his shares.

However, Ken completely ignored Russell. He walked to Melody and draped his trench coat over her shoulders.

“It’s autumn now. You should wear more layers,” he said with a tone of irritation, but his expression was filled with affection.

The scent of Ken’s coat enveloped Melody, and her heart raced involuntarily as she felt the warmth of his gesture.

However, Melody knew very well that Ken was just putting on this act to help her embarrass Russell. However, even though she knew that it was a show, her heart was still racing somehow.
