“No-” Ken hated himself for only figuring out how he felt about Melody now.

Fortunately, he still had his rationality. He laid Melody flat and wrapped one hand around Melody’s cheeks, making her lips open slightly. Then, without hesitation, he leaned over and pressed his lips against hers to help her breathe. There was no telling how much time had passed. Maybe only a minute, but it felt like a century to Ken.

After countless mouth-to-mouth resuscitations, the originally unconscious Melody’s eyelashes trembled slightly, and she slowly opened her eyes.

The first thing she saw was a handsome face magnified countless times. It was so close that she could count how many eyelashes the man had, and his thin lips were pressed against hers.

Melody subconsciously cried out in surprise. Her hand reflexively slapped the man’s face.

A crisp sound rang out, and it seemed especially abrupt in the light of the fire.

Ken was stunned. All kinds of complicated emotions appeared on his face.

There was surprise, shock, anger, and helplessness. All his emotions turned into one sentence. “You’re finally awake!”

Melody realized that Ken was giving her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation just now.

Ken looked at her deeply. Melody could feel the innocence in his eyes.

“That’s right!” Melody suddenly remembered that Averi was still unconscious. She quickly got up from the ground and knelt on the ground to listen to her breath.

Melody took out the acupuncture bag she carried with her. After a few needles, Averi finally woke up.

She looked at Ken who appeared out of thin air in surprise. The surprise in her eyes could not be any greater.

Melody heaved a sigh of relief when she saw that Averi had woken up. She looked at Ken and asked, “How did you get up here?”.

Ken pointed at the water blanket.

“I ran up here,” Ken said. He glanced at Averi and asked,” You didn’t run out with Zack because of her?”

Melody knew that Ken was blaming her for not taking her life seriously. She pursed her lips and said, “I have no choice…”

She could not get over her conscience. Even though she had already mentally prepared herself, her legs still turned back uncontrollably.

Ken sighed. He knew that this was Melody’s personality. It was not something that could be changed in a short period of time.

He decided not to mention this matter and got down to business. “The fire outside is even stronger, and it’s more dangerous to return the way we came. Besides, there are three of us, and the blanket isn’t big enough. Unless… two of us run down first. But even so, it’s very difficult for the two of us who ran out first to leave unscathed.”

Melody immediately pointed at the window and said, “I tore the curtains with her and made a long rope. We can go down the rope, but this window can’t be broken at all. The other rooms on this floor… are all burning. We can’t enter the other rooms. The only way is to think of a way to break the window.”

Ken focused and said, “I saw a fire hydrant in the corridor. There’s a hammer inside. With that, the glass can be smashed open.”

He paused for a moment and said, “I’ll go get it. You guys stay here.”

When Melody heard this, her heart tightened.

The fire was so big that just running over would attract fire, let alone staying in one place to get a hammer.

She immediately grabbed Ken’s sleeve and said, “Stay here. I’ll go!”

Ken’s gaze swept toward Averi. For some reason, Averi immediately understood what his gaze meant.

Perhaps it was her survival instinct that would stimulate all her senses.

She bit her lip and suddenly hugged Melody’s waist tightly.

Seeing this, Ken took the opportunity to cover himself with the wet blanket and quickly ran out.

“Ken!” Melody struggled to break free from Averi’s hand, but it was too late.

Ken had already run into the fire. The fire engulfed him. They couldn’t see anything clearly.

“Idiot!” Melody cursed.

Averi looked at Melody and could not help but say, “Aren’t you an idiot too?”

She could have escaped at that time, but she risked her life to save Averi.

Averi thought, ‘She even called that man an idiot. She is also an idiot! Two idiots!’

She was still a child after all. Averi cried as she thought about it.

Every minute and second of waiting felt like a slow motion. The longer she waited, the paler Melody’s face became. After an unknown period of time, there was no sound in the corridor. Melody’s eyes gradually dimmed. She felt that she might have caused Ken to die.

She hated owing people favors the most, not to mention that this person was Ken, who had saved her many times.

Melody’s eyes stung, and tears almost fell from his eyes.

At this moment, footsteps suddenly sounded in the corridor, and then it approached.

Not long after, the tall man ran into the room against the fire. His face was stained with black ash, but it inexplicably made his already tall and clean face even more attractive.

“Ken!” Melody felt her heart race. She did not care and rushed over to hug Ken.

“That’s great. You’re fine…” Her voice was very nasal.

Ken’s gaze involuntarily softened. He freed one hand to ruffle Melody’s hair.

“Don’t cry. You can return the favor when you get out,” he said. He pressed Melody’s shoulder hard and strode to the window.
